MISSION

THE PANDAS SYNDROME is the first narrative film about PANS/PANDAS (Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal Infections), a pediatric pathology characterized by neuro-psychiatric symptoms and sadly defined as the “Mind’s hell” of childhood

The movie – part of a wider communication project – aims to artistically shed light on this matter, thanks to the hundreds of interviews with children, teenagers, families and expert doctors, such as Dr. Fernanda Falcini from University of Florence and Dr. Carlo Capone from Cento Medico Saluser of Parma, collected through the years.

WHO STARTED THE PROJECT?

Filippo Cavalca, award-winning visionary director of ‘Being Leonardo da Vinci’ granted him the title of “Best Independent Director” at the New York Film Awards in 2020. In 2022 he directed ‘Hollywood is a whole other thing’ (‘Best Film’ at the Heart International Italian Film Festival and ‘Best Feature’ at the Robinson Film Award International Film Festival plus several nominees worldwide).

Irene Russo is a screenwriter with experience in multimedia and audiovisual productions for children and teenagers. She decided to join the project driven by the desire to create a story where social issues meet aesthetic research.
